7-28-2012 HAMILTON FAMILY FISHING REDS IN NEW ORLEANS

I had the pleasure of fishing the Hamilton family from Mississippi Monday and Tuesday . Monday with the chance of thunder storms I stayed in the marsh fishing in protected water and near some camps in case we had to take cover from rain . We caught good but just shy of our 25 red limit. Tuesday with the weather clearing and no wind I went back to the grass beds and had our limit of red fish for 9:45 . It was a fun couple of days with them . Thanks Y’all and I look forward to seeing y’all again soon. I fished yesterday and it was a tough day of fishing with some weather pressing in from the north west the fish were skittish I tried everything from spoons to plastic and to the shrimp under a cork . They just didn’t wanna bite.  We caught enough for them to go have cooked at a local restaurant and they were happy with that . You can’t catch em everyday I guess but it wasn’t from a lack of trying. After a  few phone calls to some friend it sounded like everyone was having a rough time . Well I’m off today but back on the water tomorrow and Monday . If you would like to get in on some New Orleans fishing and have a good time with lots of action give me a call to book your New Orleans Style Fishing Trip.

7-22-2012 CATCHING RED FISH IN NEW ORLEANS

Well it was a wet weekend fishing in New Orleans, but that doesn’t stop Louisiana fishing guides. The rain turned some of the customers around but the ones who decided to stick it out and fish did well. The fishing Friday and Saturday was good till the rain came at noon both days. Fishing in area that had some camps close by we were able to get out the rain till they passed . I’ve fished a different area this weekend due to the weather so I changed my tactic up a lil . We were fishing with blk/chart baby bull minnow on a 1/4 oz jig head . Friday we had 10 reds and 7 bass, Saturday we had 15 reds and 10 bass today I took my son and wife for a lil while and my son was able to catch his first red fish It wasn’t a monster red but a 17″red fish to a 3 yr old is  a monster. I’m back on the water tomorrow and Tuesday. Looking for Louisiana fishing charters? If you’d like to “COME FISH A NAWLINS GOOD TIME ” give me a call for questions or to book a trip.

7-17-2012 ANOTHER GOOD WEEK OF FISHING RED FISH IN NEW ORLEANS

The weather has been a lil steamy but most of the time we have been having a light breeze so it hasn’t been bad . Most of the red fish we have been catching have been on spoons in the grass beds . I did go throw shrimp under a cork yesterday since I had Mr John and his 3 young sons ,and we still caught good with the shrimp. New Orleans fishing charters are fun and affordable for everyone so “COME FISH A NAWLINS GOOD TIME “with New Orleans Style Fishing Charters and me Capt Jason Shilling I do have some availability this weekend but I don’t see that lasting long .Give us a call to book your trip 504-416-5896  captjasonshilling@yahoo.com http://www.threepalmslodge.com/

7-9-2012 TEXAS GUYS VS RED FISH IN NEW ORLEANS

Monday I fished Mr Ron , Mr Leroy , and Mr Robert from south Texas .With some thunder storms in the area that I’ve been fishing red fish I took a ride south and fished for  trout .  After catching a few throw backs and 14 keepers  and hooked into a 20# drum  the weather cleared to the north and off we went in search for  the reds . The water was clear but low so the bite was a lil slow but we ended up with 19 keepers and a bunch of throw backs that didn’t make the size limit. Fishing in New Orleans with weedless spoons is a very effective way to fish the grass beds for red fish . The red fish were between 16-22″ which are the best for the grill or frying . If you’ve never been on a New Orleans fishing Charter it a must do if visiting New Orleans . Its lots of fun and affordable for all . We accommodate all from the experienced or the fist timers . So Give us a call and “COME FISH A NAWLINS GOOD TIME” with Capt Jason Shilling and New Orleans Style Fishing Charters  504-416-5896 captjasonshilling@yahoo.com http://www.threepalmslodge.com/

5-8-12 BACK ON THE WATER CATCHING LIMITS OF RED FISH

After being down for a week I’m back on the water and it feel good to be back on the boat. Thanks to Capt Roy for helping while I was down. Taking care of my customers and catching fish. Last day the Iowa guys wanted to fish trout. With a bunch of lil trout biting they decided to go back after the reds. Wise choose cause they smoked em. Saturday I had Mr. Chase and 9 of his buddies in for a good day of fishing. Still unable to fish I wanna Thank Capt Donovan, Capt Roy, And Capt Austin for helping me with them guys and catching a bunch of reds. They had a grand time. Fishing New Orleans is a lot of fun and this city has so many other things to do as well. A good friend of mine Mr Johnny, his son Steve and their friend Mr Roy were in town for the Jazz Festival and decided to come fish Sunday. The morning looked promising with bird diving and shrimp popping the trout were on. A Lot of school trout but lots of action. After moving around a lil we got into some good trout. Wouldn’t ya know it, a water spout and weather building, time to head north for some reds. After running from the ran we ended the day with 24 trout and 11 nice red fish.(and stayed dry). Monday I had the pleasure of fishing Mr Tab, his son Wade, and their friend Mr Andy. The bite was a lil slow but we ended up with our limit of red fish in the ice chest and back at the dock before the rain came. The red fish have been between 16-25 ” Fishing has been good and I don’t expect it to do anything but get better. May is a very good month to fish  in New Orleans.
