APRIL 1, 2011 April fools on the fish

Today was a good day of fishing . I headed out with light winds and the temps in the 60’s . When I reached the bay the birds were diving and the trout were under em. I had Mr. Brad and his son Tyler from Tennessee fishing with me today. Who were some good guys and good fisherman. After chasing the birds till 9 am we had 77 trout and went look for some reds . At first we caught a few nice drum and some small reds but later found some good reds in the 16-24″ range we caught 17 reds . All the fish were released to be caught another day. I had a great time guys Thanks for the fun day of fishing and I hope to see y’all again soon.

3-30-2011 LATE START

Today we had to wait back for the weather to pass that was in front of a cold front. Around 11:30 we were able to head out and see how we could do. With the wind picking up and the temps dropping we knew it was gonna be a rough day.,but Mr Dan, Mr Mike, Mr. Chris , and Mr Gary were all ready to give it a shot.  We hit quite a few spots with lil luck in most but ended the day with a mixed bag of 10 fish .(red fish ,drum ,sheep head ,flounders and catfish) the only thing we didn’t catch was a speckle trout. We did catch a few fish that were just under the size limit so that’s a good sign  for the months to come.  Its a lil  hard to find fish in those conditions and if you haven’t had a fair day of  fishing you just haven’t fished enough . The fishing was slow but we had a good time. Thanks guys for the fun couple of days . I have been fishing mostly new customer and have been enjoying meeting everybody I look forward to seeing y’all again . April I have quite a few people booked who I have fished before and I’m looking forward to fishing with them again. Thanks to all who COME  FISH A NAWLINS GOOD TIME.

3/29/2011 IOWA VS. BULL REDS

Today we had an epic battle  between the bull reds and Mr. Gary , Mr. Chris ,Mr. Dan ,and Mr. Mike  It was a tough one to call but I think the guys had the upper hand after landing 40 bull reds and 8 drum . The fish wereon fire. I don’t know how many double and triple hook ups we had but it was plenty and it kept me on my toes all day . As the day progressed and the tide strenghtened the fights got harder and longer . This was their first time ever fishing South Louisiana and I thing I might of spoiled em . They will be fishing with me for the next 2days . Looks like the weather may hold us back a lil while tomorrow but once it passes we’re gonna go fish the inland marshes and bayous for reds .

3/28/2011 UTAH VS. BULL REDS

Another day on the water fighting the bull reds . I had Mr. Steve and Mr. Mark in from Utah who have never caught a red fish before , so I brought them out to the pass and see if we could get on some of the big bull reds and drum. Not long after the half a crab hit the bottom the reds were biting . The weather was fair then we had a lil north wind blow in and slowed the fish up and made it choppy . We moved around a lil and found a  few drum and a couple more reds. They caught 12 reds ,4 drum  and a good time. The reds are around 20-30# and the drum 12-25# the biggest fish either of them has ever caught. Glad yall had a good time guys and thanks for the good day of fishing.

3/20/2011 Southeast Louisiana Bull reds

Today was a really good fishing trip .Not because the fish bit any different from the last few days ,but cause I had some friends in town that I haven’t seen in a few years . Trey and Marty flew in from Texas to spend the weekend with friends and family. Their dad EJ and brother in law George came fishing with us as well. With the weather as nice as it was ,the fish biting like the local mosquitoes at dark ,and fishing with friends the day couldn’t have gone any better . We caught 20 BIG BULL REDS and just a couple of drum . Fishing with cracked crabs on bottom  in the Grand Isle  pass .  After a good day of fishing and catching up on thing we headed back to Mr. Ej’s place where we had  Bar-b-Que  and some more laughs . It was nice to have old friend in town and enjoying the day on the water together . I have a few days off this week but will be back on the water come friday and I’ will let ya know how we make out . If you want to enjoy a day on the water fishing give me a call and COME FISH A NAWLINS GOOD TIME

APRIL 17 -MARCH 17, 2010: LAFITTE RED FISH

Well it has been a while since I’ve written a report but I going to try to keep on it from trip to trip. AS OF NOW WE ARE NOT AFFECTED BY THE CURRENT OIL SPILL IN THE GULF OF MEXICO. I’ve been fishing a good bit since my last report April 10 when I had my good friends in from Arkansas, since then I have fished April 17, 19, 21 and 22nd in deep water for the big bull reds and drum. Its always a good time reeling up those big fish but they have moved in and so did we.  I started fishing in the inside water, lakes, bays and bayous on April 25th and 29th and on May 1, 5, 6, 8, 11, 14, 15, 16 and 17 and we have been doing really well on the inside—some days better than others—but all in all, the fishing has been good. We have been catching mostly red fish and drums, with a speck here and there. The winds during the last month haven’t let us get out and look for the specks. I’ve been fishing with gold spoons and spinner baits when the water is clear and fishing with market shrimp when needed. It has been a fun month and I have had some really good customers and we have had a lot of fun fishing together. To recap on the bold type above: We are not affected by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The media hasn’t really clarified what areas are affected and just state that south Louisiana’s coast has been covered in oil. The oil slick has stayed about 3 miles off the coast of Grand Isle and our fishing grounds are at least 30 miles north of Grand Isle. None of our waters have seen any kind of oil. I will be going back on the water on Friday May 21st and will try to have a report up that day.

April 6, 2010 – Windy Weather Reds

Today I had the pleasure of fishing with Mr. Jon Sprier and his two nephews Joe and Allen. The wind was blowing 10-15 mph at daylight and got to 20mph by 9am. There was no running out to catch the bull reds that we have been fishing with that kinda wind. Not a bad day of fishing – a tough one, but not bad. We ended up in the bays and marshes just south of Lafitte. Caught plenty of reds just under slot limit and put 11 keepers in the box with a drum fish. We fished with market shrimp under a cork or on bottom depending on where we set up at. A great time was had by all. It was the first time Joe and Allen had ever fished red fish. Thanks guys for the fun time today.

April 4, 2010 – Easter Sunday

Happy Easter. Yes it was. My wife and father in law wanted to go fishing after seeing the pics of the big bull reds I’ve been catching.

So I loaded the boat and took them for Easter. Mr.Billy has always been a big fish fisherman, so this was right up his alley. My wife doesn’t care what we are fishing for as long as she is fishing. Wind picked up a little so the ride was a little bumpy but not bad.

We caught 20 bull reds 25-35# and 10 bull drum 10-20#. What a blast we had! All the fish were caught on half a crab on bottom.

APRIL 1, 2010 – MORE BIG FISH

Picked up a trip late today. We left the dock around 2pm and was headed back to where I caught those big boys a couple of days ago. They were still there. I had Mr.Nate and Mr.Alex fishing with me today from San Francisco. Neither of ’em have ever fished red fish before and man were they excited when the first fish hit and started screaming line out. Even with a late start we were able to catch about 15 big reds and a couple drum. What a good time we had.

MARCH 30, 2010 BIG FISH

Today I had Mr.Chris and his daughter.

The day was nice and sunny not to hot just right. Perfect fishing day. I got us set up in a spot and started catching as soon as we got there and kept catching till it was time to go. All big bull reds and drum some as heavy as 40#.

They were happy cause that’s just what they wanted to catch big fish, and it was the first time they have ever been fishing for reds. Nothing like hearing the line scream off the reel with a big fish on the other end!
